Aero Healthcare kindly donates AED Backpack to Horsham parkrun

It was with great pleasure that we’ve been able to generously donate to our local parkrun life-saving equipment that can be deployed in case of an emergency incident. Our graphic designer, Wei on behalf of Aero Healthcare UK had the honour of presenting a purpose-built backpack containing a compact HeartSine® Samaritan® PAD 500P defibrillator and essential first aid kit to Murray, the run director for Horsham junior parkrun.

The HeartSine® 500P is an innovative AED (Automated External Defibrillator) featuring the responsive CPR Advisor verbal prompts feature, along with essential first aid kit provision, will be available to members of Aero UK’s local and well established parkrun group, regularly held in Horsham Park. It will play a vital role in safeguarding the safety and well-being of the many junior and adult runners in our local community.

At parkrun, there’s a requirement that every UK race event has quick access to an AED and, ideally, has one of its own available at the start/finish area. In a recent policy change, every new parkrun will in future be provided with its own AED as part of its start-up equipment. Also, if a parkrun’s AED is not available, the event has to be cancelled – it’s that important these days.

The importance of a defibrillator lies in its ability to assist in restarting the heart of someone experiencing a sudden cardiac arrest – provided it is used promptly. AEDs can be operated safely and effectively by individuals without specialised training, and untrained members of the public have successfully saved lives in this way. There have also been several notable, high-profile instances of AEDs being used successfully at sporting events.

Lifesaving Support on the Go

The AED Rescue Rucksack is designed to carry any HeartSine® Samaritan® public access defibrillator (PAD) and its accessories to any location. This robust rucksack enables the convenient transport of a life-saving heart-safe solution, ensuring quick AED access during sudden cardiac arrest emergencies.

It is particularly suitable for use in remote or isolated areas, by community first responders, disaster rescue teams, and for outdoor activities such as running or hiking clubs, as well as family and group outings.

The rucksack is clearly marked with the international AED symbol and the word ‘AED’ for easy identification.

It also includes additional space for essentials like a rescue kit and spare AED electrode pads. Features include an extra main zipped storage compartment, an elasticated water bottle side pocket, a padded back for enhanced comfort, and a useful carabiner clip on one of the shoulder straps.
